Topic 4 #Goodbye
It’s a wrap!
– The end of The Preposterous (or maybe just another beginning?)

And just like that, we’ve decided to say goodbye to our sweet—but currently too time-consuming—The Preposterous. Or, perhaps more accurately, we’ve reached another turning point. Because if the last three editions have taught us anything (through failure, femininity, and ageing), it’s that nothing ever truly ends. Things shift, evolve, and demand to be reimagined. In this case: our workload! 🥲

This newsletter was never just about ideas; it was about practice—the practice of questioning assumptions, breaking norms, and designing futures that serve us, not the other way around. And that work doesn’t stop here.
What we've been up to
Recent projects and other gems
In the footsteps of Robert Jungk
In the past months, we’ve kept busy! One thing we focused on was expanding and deepening our own toolbox—specifically the facilitation of Zukunftswerkstätten (German for “future workshops”), a participatory methodology developed by the intellectual, futurist, activist, and honoured son of the beautiful city of Salzburg, Robert Jungk. Centered on dialogue, inclusivity, and systems thinking, the Zukunftswerkstatt helps groups co-create hands-on solutions from the bottom up, while embracing diverse perspectives and creating inspiration and momentum—an art whose facilitation we now fully master. 🔥
What's up next
Upcoming events, launches, workshops
A mega Zukunftswerkstatt for 150 people
We’ll soon be putting our newly unlocked expertise to the test: on June 3rd, we’re co-creating desirable futures for digital spaces at Das NETTZ’s annual community event. How? By facilitating a large-scale Zukunftswerkstatt for 150 participants to collaboratively shape digital futures that go “Beyond the Internet”. The cherry on top? An AI-assisted graphic recording by yours truly, Kitty. 😱
Strengthening Futures Literacy within the GIZ
Leveraging our training expertise 🧑‍🏫, over the next couple of years we’ll be empowering employees at GIZ—the German international cooperation agency, which, unlike USAID, still exists (much to the benefit of many people around the world)—to push the boundaries of imagination. Through interactive and playful methods, they’ll be learning the basics of futures thinking and foresight.
University:Future Festival
Also, tune in on May 13th for the University:Future Festival, where we’ll be spreading the word about using speculative design to make future visions more tangible and actionable—turning abstract scenarios into lived experiences that sharpen both imagination and critical futures literacy.
Lisbon Future Days
And if you happen to be at Lisbon Future Days, starting *tomorrow*, keep an eye out for Elena and Gina! They’ll be there—open to conversations, collaborations, and, of course, preposterous ideas.
Sooo…

While The Preposterous may be wrapping up, we’re very much still in motion. Futures Probes is open for business—ready to collaborate, provoke, and help organisations, initiatives, and individuals navigate the complexities of all (im)possible tomorrows. Whether you're curious about strategic foresight, feminist futurism, training workshops, or preposterously bold consulting, don’t be a stranger—reach out, challenge us, or invite us in.

Thank you for thinking with us, dreaming with us, and daring to imagine otherwise. The future is—and will always be—unwritten. Let’s shape it together.

We may be saying goodbye to your inbox, but we’re not disappearing. You can still find us and follow our work on LinkedIn and Instagram. This newsletter list will be lovingly retired, and all email addresses will be deleted, because good data hygiene is a future-friendly practice. 🧼 💾

Until the next preposterous thing

In a preposterous future...
the Futures Probes team stomps gleefully on the edge of the (im)possible.
